  • My Little Sweet P . . .

It has been so long since our visit that my little Paycie has grown up since then. I am going to post her "old" photos any way. Mema and Papa want to see her and I thought it would be good medicine since they are house bound for a while. Dad had gall bladder surgery on Friday. Saturday he woke up with a retina detachment. He had surgery on his eye that evening. He has to hold his head down for ten days and he may be as long as six weeks getting his sight back in that eye. Please pray for him and mom. Doug and I have some important tests coming up in two and a half weeks. Please pray for us. My literacy workshop class is going well. Work is oh well. I had a little round of the flu the first part of the week, but recovered and back at life again even though I had the vaccine a few weeks ago. Jonathan and Marissa find out what gender they are having tomorrow.

    Enjoy our little sunshine!

Grandpa's favorite thing to do is lay his little girl on his chest.

I love the dimpled chin. Like Mommy like daughter.

She looks older here but it is because I have the camera so close to her.

Granny is learning lots of songs to sing to her sweet Paycie.

    I Am Jesus’ Little Lamb
    I am Jesus’ little lamb,
    Ever glad at heart I am;
For my Shepherd gently guides me,
Knows my need, and well provides me,
Loves me every day the same,
Even calls me by my name.

    A Daddy's girl or is that a Girl's daddy.

Uncles will put up with a lot of things, but I imagine that head piece came of shortly after this photo.

We saw her on Skype Monday evening. She has grown so much but still looks the same with that wild wild hair. She is granny's little sunshine and motivation to get through these tests. We are looking forward to seeing her at Thanksgiving.

Now is that cute or what?!!!! We got on skype with David and Amanda and Paycie last night and I was able to get some snaps from the video. Those are the low res files that you see. Today Amanda sent some more pics and gave me the green light to post them so here they are!!! I love that little double chin and dimple.

    My Paycie Brynn

From your long soft hair to your dimpled chin

You make your granny smile and say

Thank you Lord for Paycie today.

May your life be full of love and kindness,

May your granny see your faults with blindness.

And when the young men dare to come calling,

Don't worry your head and find it appalling,

If Grandpa causes a great big stink,

Granny will hide his shot gun under the sink.

  • Another wild weekend!!! Of course that depends on how you define wild. ha. I am not a shopper. Let me repeat that. I am NOT a shopper. It brings out the whinny side of me. Net and Katerine came up this weekend to help celebrate Dad's birthday and to just be with family. Doug and I met her in Conway and he and Katerine took off for Mema and Papa's house while Net and I went on a mission to find a birthday present. We (me and my sisters) usually go in together and buy Mom and Dad's bday presents. We keep our ears peaked for any hint of something they might like. Nephew Nathan heard Dad compliment other nephew Seth's western shirt with the pearl buttons so that was it. Gift idea for 2009. Sounded easy enough, but true to my shopping experiences, I can never find what I want until the last store. I don't know how many we hit, but five hours later, we finally came across our much sought after gift, bought it, wrapped it, and delivered it to the birthday boy. I don't know if he was really impressed, but he made a good effort at pretending to be if he wasn't. Doug grilled some sirloin and Net and I whipped up a medley of sauteed vegetables, baked sweet potatoes and a dieter's banana pudding. It was all very delicious if I say so myself and most importantly it didn't make him sick. He has been very sick for the last two weeks and the docs have determined that he has a "suspicious looking" gall bladder. So it was nice that we didn't upset his "suspicious" pain in the stomach. He has an appointment in a week or so with the surgeon. He will probably take it out some time in the near future and hopefully Dad will be feeling much much better.

NO baby news! I called bright and early Sunday morning (her due date) to see if our little Paycie Brynn was ready to see her shadow yet. Mommy Amanda reported that little miss Paycie is being stubborn. I think that is way too harsh. Surely she is just being shy. Certainly my little angel will not have a stubborn bone in her sweet body. Between her granny, daddy and mommy, the stubbornness is all used up in this family. ha! Perhaps she is waiting to arrive on great-grandpa Vaughn's birthday come Wednesday. Or perhaps she is waiting to arrive on great-grandma Maudine's birthday next Monday. Or perhaps she has decided it is much more pleasant on the inside than outside. Nanna Tami (don't remember what she actually wants to be called) told me today when I called to give her 400 phone numbers to get a hold of us with, that she went over her due date with Amanda by ten days. Ok that means we have nine days to go. So I better get off here, do a little more math, and practice my patience quite a few days longer.
